People In Public Service

Now that the cynic has become a believer and now that I am in a relationship with a man, a fireman to be specific as to why I am writing this, I have to say I see in newer eyes the sacrifices that people in public service make.  They do their jobs everyday, fighting fires, fighting crime, fighting inhumanities (social workers), etc...for the good of their communities.  I feel like people don't show enough gratitude for what these civil servants do for us on a daily basis.  Even when they aren't on the field, they are still studying, learning, and actively participating in the betterment of their communities.  I am not saying that I think people should go way out of their way to make it known that they are appreciated, but we should all stop and think about what they do and acknolwedge that respectively.  Thank you firefighters, police officers, and all of the other civil servants that help keep the community safe and keep improving it.
