Celebutants

I have been guilty myself, of being caught up in stupid "reality" tv shows that are a complete waste of time to watch.  I think we all have been a victim to these shows, where we just kind of get stuck watching them or sucked in somehow.  My real question is, why are they called reality shows when we all know that nothing that happens on the shows are even close to being realistic?  Also, who are these people that we make into overnight celebrities?  They are setting the example to kids and teens that you don't need to do anything worthwhile to be successful.  As a parent, I know it is my job to set the example for my daughter, but that becomes challenging when there are so many other people that we are up against.
